CIAC Class L State Finals
The NHS Girls' Swim Team wrapped up their season Wednesday night at state finals. The 200 medley relay team of Gabby Targonska, Sarah Nadratowski, Amber Rocheleau, and Lindsay Weaver placed 16th with a season best time of 2:06.76. Rocheleau was Newington's only individual athlete to compete at finals. She placed 18th in the 100 butterfly with a season best time of 1:01.04. The 200 freestyle relay team of Julia Mazur, Victoria Savluk, Talitha Featherstone-Alston, and Jillian McCormick dropped time from Saturday, placing 18th with a 2:00.01. Newington then finished 11th overall in the 400 freestyle relay with the team of Nadratowski, Targonska, Weaver, and Rocheleau going a season best with a 4:00.89.

CIAC Class L State Trials
After a season of hard work, the team swam at state trials on Saturday. The 200 medley relay team of Gabby Targonska, Sarah Nadratowski, Victoria Savluk, and Lindsay Weaver placed 16th with a time of 2:13.81. Amber Rocheleau then competed in the 200 freestyle, placing 26th with a season best time of 2:03.88. Rocheleau then competed in the 100 butterfly, placing 21st with a time of 1:02.17, qualifying to swim again at state finals on Wednesday. In the 200 freestyle relay, Julia Mazur, Sarah Zogu, Talitha Featherstone-Alston, and Jillian McCormick placed 18th with a time of 2:02.48. Targonska then competed in the 100 backstroke, placing 34th with a time of 1:08.09. Finally, the 400 freestyle relay team of Nadratowski, Targonska, Weaver, and Rocheleau placed 12th with a 4:02.14, dropping 4 seconds off their season best time.

CCC Championships
While Newington did not place first at the conference meet, the team as a whole competed very well with lots of personal best times to end the season. In the 200 medley relay, the A relay placed 10th overall with a 2:11.72, and the B relay placed 18th with a 2:26.21. IN the 200 freestyle, Amber Rocheleau took second place with a season best time of 2:04.94. Talitha Featherstone-Alston and Olivia Zbikowski placed 17th with a 2:2824 and 24th with a 2:56.55 respectively. In the 200 IM, Lindsay Weaver placed 13th for Newington with a 2:42.73, while Victoria Savluk dropped almost 5 seconds off her season best to take 15th with a 2:56.61. Senior Captain, Sarah Zogu also swam the IM with a lifetime best of 3:02.56. Up next in the 50 free, Sarah Nadratowski took 4th place for the Indians, dropping over half a second with a time of 27.25. Gabby Targonska, Jillian McCormick, Julia Mazur, Zbikowski, Nina Giarratana, and Leilanie Perez also competed in the 50 free. During the diving portion of the meet, Newington was represented by freshman Allison Goegel. In the 100 butterfly, Rocheleau took another second place finish with a 1:03.22. McCormick and Savluk then dropped time to take 15th and 17th place respectively. In the 100 freestyle, Nadratowski had a 5th place finish with a lifetime best time of 59.55. Goegel, Leah Sanderson, Giarratana, Perez, and Quynh Bui were Newington's other competitors in the event. Bui dropped almost 9 seconds to get a lifetime best of 1:31.97. In the 500 freestyle, Newington was represented by Mazur, Weaver, and Zogu. Then in the 200 freestyle relay, Newington took 13th, 20th, and 25th. In the 100 backstroke, Targonska had a key second place finish with a lifetime best of 1:07.28. Featherstone-Alston placed 15th, and Senior Captain Sanderson placed 21st with a best time of 1:24.76. In the 100 breaststroke, Tori Wyble placed 17th with a 1:29.79, and Melina Topintzis placed 23rd with a 1:43.65, dropping almost a full second. The meet was finished off for Newington with the 400 free relay team placing 4th overall with a time of 4:06.43. Overall, the team scored 126 points.
