Softball shuts out NWC

Newington 7, Northwest Catholic 0: Alyssa Bellizzi’s solo homer in the first inning set the tone for the day and led the Indians (15-4) to a big win. Olivia Burgos struck out eight in five innings for Newington while Bellizzi had three hits and three runs driven in on the day for the red-hot Indians, who have had a remarkable season and will be a threat in the state tournament.
