 Newington 21, Hartford Pubic 6: The Indians jumped to a 14-0 halftime lead and held on in the second half to earn a season-opening victory in Hartford.

Quarterback Isaac Ortiz, who started as a receiver last season, was credited as playing well in his new position to lead the offensive charge.

Newington could match its win total from all of last season if it could pull off an upset in its home opener next Friday against Windsor.
