Baseball defeats Wethersfield with big 4th

Jordan Blanchette picked up the win for Newington while Cooper Johnson was among the offensive standouts. The junior went 2-3 with a sac fly and had one of the Indians’ two extra-base hits.

Head coach Ben Alaimo was happy with the team effort because he preaches winning the battle of the free bases, which he describes as walks, errors, wild pitches and passed balls.

“Proud of my guys for understanding our system and playing within our offense,” Aliamo said. They were worried less about hitting and more about team play. We put all three phases together today and I’m proud of my guys.”
