NEWINGTON — Mitchell Ambruso scored twice as Newington used a total team effort to knock off New Britain 3-0 Friday afternoon. Kurt Swenor added the other Newington goal, while Chris Kapuscinski was strong in net helping lead the Indians to a shutout.
“We possessed the ball very well and we finished,” Newington coach Jeff Brunetti said. “Before the season I said if we finished goals we’d give ourselves a chance to win a lot of games.”
So far the plan is working. Newington is now 3-2 this season while the Hurricanes dropped to 2-3.
