Hedberg shoots 29

SOUTHINGTON — Newington’s Jake Hedberg had already had a good week, winning the Avon Invitation with an even-par 72 at Blue Fox Run. Thursday, however, was a round he will never forget.

Hawks Landing is a par 34 layout, but Hedberg made it look more than easy, firing an exceptional 29, which would have been a round of 10-under over the course of 18 holes. Hedberg fired six birdies and just one bogey during his round.

Southington, however, beat Newington in the overall match, shooting a 141 to Newington’s 151. Joe Fazzino (33) and Eric Flood (34) led the Blue Knights.
