2017-2018

Newington had a strong showing against Rocky Hill, but ultimately fell 88-98. Newington's medley relay team of Sean Abrams, Patrick Juvencio, Maks Ugrak, and Rob Nagy took first to start off the meet, while the relay team of Nick Goegel, Nick Jirku, John Famiglietti, and Tre Bucchi took third. In the 200 IM, Ugrak and Juvencio took first and second place respectively, with Juvencio improving his time by a second to a 2:23.83. Nagy then took first in the 50 free, with Salvo Scata taking third. In diving, Newington took first and second with Famiglietti and Abrams. Newington also took first in the 100 fly and 100 free, with Ugrak and Nagy respectively. The 200 free relay team of Bucchi, Goegel, Juvencio, and Scata took second in a very close race, which led the meet into a tie at 70-70. The tie remained after the backstroke, in which Newington took second and third with Abrams and Bucchi respectively. Jirku took second in the 100 breast, and the 400 free relay team of Ugrak, Scata, Abrams, and Sean Vasi took second in another close race. Newington finished the meet with 9 swimmers achieving personal best times, and two state qualifiers: Abrams in diving (180.50) and Nagy in the 100 free (52.63).

Newington VS. Simsbury

Newington finished their meet against Simsbury putting up a very hard fight to finish with a loss of 91-94. Rob Nagy finished 1^st in the 200 freestyle, dropping five seconds to get a 1:59.16,  Luke Fote placed 3^rd and Sean Vasi placed 4^th. Maks Ugrak placed 2^nd in the 200 IM, and Patrick Juvencio placed 3^rd dropping 2 seconds. Salvo Scata placed  2^nd in the 50 freestyle, and Tre Bucchi placed 3^rd dropping a second.  The divers went two, three, four. Ugrak placed first in his 100 fly, and Juvencio placed 3^rd. Nagy placed 1^st in his 100 free, and Scata placed 4^th. In the 500 free, Vasi placed 2^nd and Nick Jirku placed 3^rd. Fote, Juvencio, Bucchi, and Nagy placed 1^st in the 200 freestyle relay.  Sean Abrams placed 3^rd in his 100 back. In the 400 free relay Ugrak, Scata, Abrams, and Nagy placed 2^nd, and Jirku, John Famiglietti, Arbi Shehu, and Vasi placed 3^rd.

Simsbury Results

Newington VS. Avon

Newington put up a hard fight against a much larger Avon team, falling 95-86. Newington started the meet taking second in the 200 medley relay with Sean Abrams, Nick Jirku, Maks Ugrak and Rob Nagy. Ugrak and Sean Vasi then took first and second in the 200 free, both with best times (2:04.01 and 2:10.48). In the 50 free, Nagy took second with a time of 23.65. In diving, John Famiglietti and Abrams took second and third place respectively. Newington then went on to take first in the next three events: Ugrak in the 100 fly (59.65), Nagy in the 100 free (53.26) and Vasi in the 500 free (5:50.47). Luke Fote took third in the 100 free with a personal best time of 56.13. Newington finished strong taking first in the 400 free relay with Ugrak, Salvo Scata, Fote, and Nagy. Adam Gionfriddo and Matt Montano each had multiple best times; Gionfriddo dropping 3 seconds in the 50 free and 2 seconds in the 100 free, and Montano dropping 4 seconds in the 50 free and 1 second in the 100 breast.

Newington VS. Conard

Newington puts up a hard fight against Conard on January 9^th, 2018. The boys pulled a hard second in the 200 medley relay consisting of Sean Abrams, Joey Olandt, Maks Ugrak, and Luke Fote with a 1:56.52. Also placing second in their individual events, Rob Nagy in the 50 free with a 23.57, Maks Ugrak in the 100 Fly with a 59.80, and John Famiglietti in diving with a score of 175.20. Salvo Scata getting a best time in his 200 free with a 2:15.05, Arbi Shehu got a best time in his 50 Free with a 28.81.
